No one expects you to be perfect when you first start a job. If you have never done the job, or even trained at a job, no one can even expect you to do anything near good. My son was considering going to school for HVAC certification, as soon as he graduated from high school. He wanted to find out if it was something he was really going to enjoy doing before spending all the money on the classes. My husband went to the junkyard and bought an old air conditioning unit and told him to go to work. For the next several weekends, he was out by the garage, working on this air conditioning unit. He had YouTube on his laptop, as he followed all the directions to diagnose and repair the AC unit. Of course, without power he wasn’t going to know if he was fixing the AC unit, or not. I wasn’t very happy when my husband put power to the AC unit. All of a sudden we were tripping breakers and my son was getting frustrated. He thought that with the help of YouTube, he should be able to have the air conditioning unit running by now. I wanted to tell him that there was a reason the AC unit had been found in a junkyard, but my husband stopped me. He was to the point, he wasn’t even sure if he wanted to be an HVAC technician. He finally got so frustrated that he closed up his laptop and walked away. I don’t know if he is going to school for HVAC now, or not.
